Pickerington's 1st public painting 

Pickerington, Ohio presents the first public art installation for their annual Independence Day festival. This year, Pickerington high school graduate: Sophia Peck, paints a piece for the city she grew up in.

The town council gave Peck guidelines, instructing her to incorporate the name of the town, an American flag, the America 250 logo, and violet flowers. From there, she came up with a design for the town to cherish.

The piece is meant to spark curiosity and imaginative wonder. The main focal point is peace between tiger and panther: the two Pickerington high school mascots. A red cardinal, Ohio's bird pulls the flag and positions it in the shape of a heart to display Ohio's know saying: "the heart of it all". With small garden creatures hidden throughout the image, it represents the working class. For they hold up America and the society within it. You may also find Yoda: the wise, old Jedi from Star Wars: the mayor of Pickerington. MAjESTiCA is her artistic identity and she resinates most with a butterfly. The pink butterfly takes flight into the sun because a peace sign, a heart, and a sunshine is what her mother signed lunchbox notes as, a memory she will always hold near her heart.
